SP Guide Publications' first and rather flagship publication, the Military Yearbook was launched in 1965 and rechristened as SP's Military Yearbook in 1992, as a tribute to the Founder Editor Shri S.P. Baranwal who founded the company in 1964.
Today the Yearbook is regarded and termed as Bible of information on the armed forces in the context of entire Asia and the defence industry world over.
Air Marshal C. Hari Kumar took over as the Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Air Command, Indian Air Force on January 1, 2017.
Air Marshal C. Hari Kumar was commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF in the year 1979. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor as also a Fighter Combat Leader, and has over 3,300 hours of flying. He has done instructional tenures at Fighter Training Wing, Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment and College of Air Warfare. He is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College at Wellington and National Defence College at New Delhi. He has commanded a MiG-21 squadron, Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment and a front line fighter base of the IAF.
His staff appointments include Ops-1A under Air-I at Headquarters Western Air Command and Deputy Director Air Staff Inspection, Director Operations (Joint Planning) and Assistant Chief of the Air Staff Operations (Offensive) at Air Headquarters and Senior Air Staff Officer at Headquarters South Western Air Command. The Air Marshal was holding the appointment of Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Air Command, prior to his present appointment. For his dedicated service the Air Marshal has been conferred awards AVSM, VM and VSM by the President of India. He was also awarded commendation by the Chief of the Air Staff in October 1997.
