SP Guide Publications' first and rather flagship publication, the Military Yearbook was launched in 1965 and rechristened as SP's Military Yearbook in 1992, as a tribute to the Founder Editor Shri S.P. Baranwal who founded the company in 1964.
Today the Yearbook is regarded and termed as Bible of information on the armed forces in the context of entire Asia and the defence industry world over.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Air Marshal Jasbir Walia was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on June 15, 1979. During his career spanning 37 years, he has flown all versions of the MiG-21, the Jaguar and various trainer aircraft. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor, Pilot Attack Instructor and a Fighter Combat Leader. He has served as Directing Staff at Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment.
He is a graduate from the Defence Services Staff College at Wellington and has undergone a course at Air War College, Montgomery, Alabama, USA. Air Marshal Jasbir Walia has held various important command and staff appointments that include Commanding Officer of a Jaguar squadron specialising in maritime strike role and Station Commander of an operational base. He has also served as Director, Tactical Operations at Air Headquarters, Deputy Commandant, Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment, Deputy Commandant at College of Air Warfare, Air Attaché at Embassy of India in Washington DC, Air Officer Commanding, J&K Area, and Senior Air Staff Officer, Eastern Air Command.
Before taking over this current assignment, he was the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command. For his meritorious services, Air Marshal Jasbir Walia has been conferred the awards of VM and VSM by the President of India.
