SP Guide Publications' first and rather flagship publication, the Military Yearbook was launched in 1965 and rechristened as SP's Military Yearbook in 1992, as a tribute to the Founder Editor Shri S.P. Baranwal who founded the company in 1964.
Today the Yearbook is regarded and termed as Bible of information on the armed forces in the context of entire Asia and the defence industry world over.
Lieutenant General Satish Dua took over the appointment of Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) on January 9, 2017. The Integrated Staff is responsible synergising capability development, perspective planning and jointness amongst the three Services.
He commanded 15 Corps in Srinagar in 2015-16 when momentous operations took place on the line of control (LoC) as well as in the Valley. He commanded his Unit as well as a Brigade in active militancy in J&K on LoC/counter terrorism environment. As a Major General, he raised a new counter terrorism formation of Assam Rifles called IGAR (East) to coordinate operations in three states in the North East. His operational staff appointments have been as Brigade Major of Kargil Brigade and Brigadier General Staff (Operations) of 16 Corps in J&K state. He has also been a Commando Instructor and Colonel MS (Complaints) in Military Secretary Branch. He has worked in the fields of acquisition and procurement and held appointments of Deputy Director General in Weapon Equipment Directorate and Additional Director General (Procurement) in Master General of Ordnance Branch. He was also the Indian Defence Attaché in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos from 2005 to 2008. He is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and alumnus of Higher Command Course and National Defence College. He is recipient of SM and YSM awards.
