SP Guide Publications' first and rather flagship publication, the Military Yearbook was launched in 1965 and rechristened as SP's Military Yearbook in 1992, as a tribute to the Founder Editor Shri S.P. Baranwal who founded the company in 1964.
Today the Yearbook is regarded and termed as Bible of information on the armed forces in the context of entire Asia and the defence industry world over.
Vice Admiral Bimal K. Verma was commissioned in the Indian Navy on January 1, 1980. He is an alumnus of the 55th course of National Defence Academy and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai. He is a specialist in communication and electronic warfare. He has held various Command and Staff appointments which include Principal Director, Naval Operations, at Integrated Headquarters, MoD (Navy), Naval Attaché in Embassy of India at Tehran, and Captain Sea Training at Visakhapatnam. He has also served in Indian Naval Tactical Evaluation Group, Mumbai, and Signal Intelligence Organisation. He has held commands of INS Shardul, Magar, Ranjit and Mysore. On his elevation to Flag rank, he was the Flag Officer, Doctrines & Concepts, Flag Officer Commanding, Maharashtra and Gujarat Naval Area, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Information Warfare and Operations), and Flag Officer, Advance Operating Base.
Prior to taking over as the Commanderin-Chief of Andaman & Nicobar Command, he was the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Eastern Naval Command. He is recipient of AVSM award.
