SP's Military Yearbook

SP Guide Publications' first and rather flagship publication, the Military Yearbook was launched in 1965 and rechristened as SP's Military Yearbook in 1992, as a tribute to the Founder Editor Shri S.P. Baranwal who founded the company in 1964.

Today the Yearbook is regarded and termed as Bible of information on the armed forces in the context of entire Asia and the defence industry world over.




Vice Admiral Girish Luthra
Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command

Vice Admiral Girish Luthra was commissioned into the Indian Navy in July 1979. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and the Naval War College. He is a specialist in navigation and direction. Some of the important Staff appointments held by him include Director Net Assessment at HQ Integrated Defence Staff and Principal Director Naval Plans. He was later Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy & Plans). His sea commands include the command of the guided missile corvette INS Khukri, the guided missile frigate INS Talwar and the aircraft carrier INS Viraat.

Later he was the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Fleet. On promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral he took over as Director General of Naval Operations. Thereafter he was appointed Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations) at HQ Integrated Defence Staff. He was the Flag Officer Commandingin-Chief, Southern Naval Command, and is currently the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. He is recipient of VSM and AVSM awards.
